Biolubricants

Biodegradable lubricants

For TotalEnergies Lubrifiants, the commitment to the environment is a main priority. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) defines biodegradable lubricants (bio-lubricants) as being:

  • Of low toxicity
  • Subject to rapid decomposition by living organisms

Lubricants of this type are covered by strictly controlled legislation.

Biodegradable oil

A single liter of oil can pollute as much as 1,000,000 liters of water. That's why TotalEnergies produce a big range of biodegradable lubricants that perform well across all kinds of applications, whilst still meeting strict environmental requirements. Our products allow you to respect the environment, and without compromising on productivity or maintenance costs. Our bio-lubricants are made from synthetic esters as well as vegetable oils (chiefly rapeseed).
Vegetable oils are:

  • Almost 100% biodegradable
  • Inexpensive

Synthetic oils feature:

  • Better oxidation resistance
  • Extended service life for machinery

TotalEnergies' range of biodegradable and eco-friendly lubricants offer some of the highest technical specifications on the market. Their quality and efficiency are at least equal to those of conventional lubricants.

Biodegradable lubricant technical specifications:

  • High viscosity index
  • High flash point
  • Reduction in product volume lost via evaporation
  • Low pour point and viscosity levels, even at low temperatures
  • High biodegradability
  • Low or zero toxicity

Customer benefits:

  • Longer equipment service life
  • Corrosion protection
  • Energy savings
  • Higher reliability and safety
  • Respect for operators' health and safety
  • Minimal pollution risk
