Under ideal conditions (stored in the original, closed containers at moderate temperatures), motor oil regularly remains stable for an extended period of time. There should not be deposits on the bottom of the bottle. You cannot redissolve the deposits by just shaking the bottle. The oil needs to be replaced.

An engine oil’s properties are best if it is used within two years. After that, we recommend replacing the oil.

Do not throw the old oil in the trash. Oil should be recycled. Learn more here.
